Hall and Oates Maneater
Hall and Oates Maneater is a single recorded by American duo Hall and Oates from their 1982 album H2O. It reached number-one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on December 18, 1982.
It remained in the top spot for four weeks, more than any of the duo's five other number-one hits. According to John Oates the inspiration for this song was English model and actress Kelly LeBrock. The music video opens with a woman walking down a red staircase, and the band playing in a dimly lit studio with shafts of light projecting down on them. The band members step in and out of the light for their lip sync. A young woman in a short party dress is shown in fade-in and fade-out shots, along with a black jaguar, hence the song line "The woman is wild, a she-cat tamed by the purr of a Jaguar." The Hall and Oates song refrain is "Whoa, oh here she comes; watch out boy, she'll chew you up; whoa, oh here she comes, she's a maneater".
Hall and Oates Maneater Lyrics
She'll only come out at night The lean and hungry type Nothing is new, I've seen her here before Watching and waiting She's sitting with you but her eyes are on the door So many have paid to see What you think you're getting for free The woman is wild a she-cat tamed by the purr of a Jaguar Money's the matter If you're in it for love you ain't gonna get too far
Oh here she comes Watch out boy she'll chew you up Oh here she comes She's a maneater Oh here she comes Watch out boy she'll chew you up Oh here she comes She's a maneater
I wouldn't if I were you I know what she can do She's deadly man and she could really rip your world apart Mind over matter The beauty is there but a beast is in the heart
Oh here she comes Watch out boy she'll chew you up Oh here she comes She's a maneater
